- About Products
- Distylium racemosum is said to be the hardest of domestic trees.
Due to its hardness, it is also used as a material for wooden swords, building materials, musical instruments, and as a substitute for ebony and rosewood.
Distylium racemosum was used for combs that were offered to "high-ranking women," such as those in the Imperial Court and The Ōoku(大奥).
It is said that the Japanese people often thought that missing comb teeth was a sign of misfortune, so they sought a strong Distylium racemosum comb. - What is Unshu Soroban?
